The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement unveiled the burial place of Sayed Hashem Safieddine, head of the movement’s Executive Council who was martyred in October.

Hawzah News Agency- Hezbollah placed a picture of the revered figure on his tomb at the Rawdhat al-Hura Cemetery in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Safieddine was assassinated, along with a number of his companions, in an Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut on October 3, 2024.

He was widely expected to be formally elected as Hezbollah’s next secretary general after Sayed Hassan Nasrallah.

Safieddine had joined Hezbollah in 1982 and served as the head of its Executive Council from 1994 until his martyrdom.

Since 2017, he had been blacklisted by the United States.

According to a statement released by Hezbollah after his martyrdom, Safieddine spent his whole honorable life pursuing the freedom of holy al-Quds and the defense of Lebanon’s honor and territorial integrity against the aggression and crimes of the Zionist occupation regime, and he was finally martyred on this holy path.
